HOW MUCH DO I FEED MY DOG OR PUPPY? If feeding whole foods exclusively, divide daily portion into two meals. Feed morning and late afternoon/evening. If feeding with commercial dry food, serve one-half the daily portion per day with one-half the normal amount of dry food. If your dog is under or overweight, we are here help guide you to the correct portion for your dog's needs, and to help them get to their ideal weight. HOW DO I PREPARE THE FROZEN FOOD?
Sophii’s stews come frozen in convenient frozen single serving zip bag or cubes. Simply thaw the package or cubes by placing it in the refrigerator for a day or overnight. When ready to serve, transfer to your pet's bowl and as an option, add a little bit of hot water to warm up the stew. You can also serve cold, depending on your pet’s preference. However, warming the food will release the lovely aroma and encourage your dog to gobble it up. |
If mixing the frozen stew with commercial dry food, please decrease the portions of both the stew and kibble by half to make a complete meal portion. We know that feeding whole food stew exclusively isn’t always an option, so combining portions will help ensure your dog is getting a balanced diet by bringing in nutrient rich whole foods into their meal plan.
Please remember to never heat the stews in the plastic packaging it arrives in, and avoid microwaving if possible. HOW DO I KNOW IF MY DOG IS OVER OR UNDER WEIGHT?
An hourglass figure isn't only for Marilyn Monroe and a goal for women everywhere: Your pet should have an hourglass figure too! Obesity is one of the most common health problems in our pets in North America. If not addressed early on obesity can lead to other serious health complications such as heart failure and diabetes. Underweight and malnourished pets also have health risks, and should be attended to. Signs of malnourishment include a bloated abdomen, bleeding gums, and an emaciated body with ribs clearly visible. This Weight Chart shows dogs and cats in a range of weight conditions. |
To determine whether your pet is the correct weight, compare her body condition with the images here of how dogs typically look when they are overweight, underweight, and at a healthy weight. When viewed from above, your pet should have a noticeable waist, between the end of the rib cage and the start of the hind quarters. When you run your hand over your pet's back and sides with light pressure you should be able to feel their spine and rib cage. If your dog is under or overweight, we are here help guide you to the correct portion for your dog's needs, and to help them get to their ideal weight. |
